Overall, Gavin Hood gave it mediocre direction…I'd say on par with McG's Terminator Salvation and in some ways better than Bryan Singer's take on it all. What can I say, Jackman owns the character in it's entirety and the introduction of Reynold'sDeadpool made it all the more worth it despite some drastically minute screen time. The only major flaw, because the acting wasn't all that great (I never expected it to be) was casting Taylor KitschRemy LaBeau/Gambit. I find it hard to believe that he pulled off the task of bringing Jim Le and Chris Claremont's version to life, especially since it was the first time the character graced the big screen. Horrible Cajun accent and despite my heterosexuality, I find it hard to believe that this guy possesses the famed charm Remy had on women. Danny Houston on the other hand worked nicely.
Just got back from an advance screening of Wolverine, and I have to say it was pretty darn good! Visually its spectacular, and the acting is top notch. Liev Schrieber does a really great jobSabretooth, and both Taylor Kitsch and Will.i.am were goodGambit and Wraith respectively. Also good to see that Dominic Monaghan's character ended up being Bolt instead of Beakoriginally rumoured! Die-hard comic fans may need to beware,there's a few characters that are changed somewhat from the comics. Some subtly (like Agent Zero), some vastly (like Deadpool), but ultimately not so much that it detracts from the film's story (it is, after all, a different continuity to the comics - X-Men fans would do well to remember this going into this movie!). There's also lots of character cameos, with one near the end of the film being icing on the cinematic cake! Stick around after the credits start rolling for not one but two vignettes!
Can everyone stop making moody origin stories now, please? While not a disaster, this isn’t the claws-out, rampaging adventure we hoped for. No-one cares where Wolverine found his jacket — a spin-off with him kicking ass in Japan would have been way more fun.

He is generally depicteda loner and considered to be an anti-hero because of his willingness to use violence (and occasionally murder)adjuncts to his tradecraft. His long running catchphrase best sums up his personal philosophy; "I'm the best there is at what I do, but what I do isn't very nice." Despite his penchant for violence, Wolverine abhors killing and adheres to a strict personal code of ethics and honor. He is loyal to a fault and an unwavering supporter of his friends and allies. Due to a combination of several traumatic events in his past and systematic memory alteration, Wolverine has functionedan amnesiac for the better part of his career. Wolverine also has a highly volatile, beast-like nature and is often times prone to "berserker rampages". These rampages can prove fatal to his opponents.
